14-year-old dies after skateboard accident
“Boy dies at hospital 3 days after falling off skateboard in school parking lot.”
A 14-year-old boy died at a hospital Tuesday, three days after falling off a skateboard in a school parking lot and suffering severe head injuries, authorities said.
Nestor Barrientos-Macias, of Lake Forest, was taken to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo on Saturday afternoon after authorities received a 911 call at La Tierra Elementary School, 24150 Lindley Street, where Barrientos-Macias had apparently fallen off a skateboard.
Paramedics with the Orange County Fire Department were called to the school when someone called 911 and reported an unconscious boy in the school parking lot, said Capt. Greg McKeown of the Fire Authority.
According to the coroner’s department, Barrientos-Macias was riding a skateboard when he fell and suffered sever injuries.
It is unknown if he was wearing a helmet at the time.
The boy was reported to be breathing at the time, McKeown said.
Barrientos-Macias was pronounced dead at 1:07 p.m. Tuesday, according to the coroners department.
