LA PALMA A 16-year-old girl is in critical condition after being struck by a car while walking to school Monday morning, police said.
The John F. Kennedy High School student was walking across a marked crosswalk in the intersection of Crescent Avenue and Watson Street about 6:45 a.m. when she was struck by a vehicle traveling west on Crescent, police said.
The girl, who police have only identified as a Cypress resident, was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital in critical condition, police said.
The driver was questioned at the scene and released, police said. Crescent Avenue was closed for several hours during the investigation.
Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to call the La Palma Police Department at 714-690-3370.
