2 injured when Honda cuts across ramp
ORANGE Two people have been sent to the hospital after a Honda Civic cut across the Chapman Avenue on-ramp of the southbound 55 freeway and slammed into two lanes of cars waiting on the off-ramp, police said.
“The accident was like a bowling ball hit the pins,” said California Highway Patrol officer B. Marshall.
The accident was reported at 7:59 a.m. Initial reports to the CHP indicated that a person was having a seizure.
The Civic was traveling westbound on Chapman, near the off-ramp from the 55 freeway, when the driver cut across the on-ramp and the divider, crashing into the cars waiting on the off-ramp for the light at Chapman Avenue to change.
The Civic struck a gray Chevy Silverado, a white Ford Ranger, a silver Mercedes-Benz C240, and a white Odyssey van.
Firefighters cut off the passenger door and the roof of the Civic to remove the woman driver. The driver of the Mercedes was also injured.
The off-ramp and lanes were clear by 8:59 a.m.
