3 injured in crash, car fire; Ortega Highway now open
“Firefighters douse vehicle fire, but three people are reported hurt in traffic collision.”
CLEVELAND NATIONAL FOREST – One person was flown by helicopter from the scene of a crash on Ortega Highway to a nearby hospital after what appears to be a solo-car crash, officials said.
Traffic was shut down until 1:40 p.m. today, said California Highway Patrol officer Gabe Montoya.
The highway remained closed while authorities investigated the crash and cleared debris, he said.
The crash was reported at 12:05 p.,m., he said, about 11 miles east of the I-5.
Authorities also received reports of a car fire after the crash, but the fire was put down within minutes, said Battalion Chief Kris Concepcion of the Orange County Fire Authority.
Details on how the crash occurred were not immediately available.
Three people were treated at the scene, but only one was air-lifted from the area, Concepcion said.
