7-year-old in coma after bike accident

A 7-year-old boy was in a medically induced coma Monday after he was hit by a truck Sunday afternoon, police said.

The 7-year-old was riding his bike across El Prado Avenue between Lewis Street and the 22 freeway around 5:45 p.m. when he was struck by a dark-colored 1988 Ford F-150 driven by 47-year-old Kha Huynh of Anaheim.

The boy was dragged a short distance, but Huynh stopped and waited for police.

The boy was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana where he remains in critical condition in the pediatric ICU. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident
