Anaheim man killed in Victorville crash
One of the two men who died in a crash near Victorville in San Bernardino County was identified Tuesday as 54-year-old Michael Sturgeon from Anaheim, according to San Bernardino County coroner’s officials.
The possible head-on collision occurred at about 9:30 a.m. Monday on State Route 128 west of Sayle Road in Phelan, said the coroner’s office.
Sturgeon was air-lifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center and was pronounced dead due to the injuries he sustained in the crash.
According to the coroner’s office, Sturgeon was driving a white Ford four-door while traveling westbound on State Route 138 when his vehicle was struck by a white Kia traveling eastbound.
Joseph Raymond Griffin, 78, from Phelan was driving the Kia and was declared dead at the scene at 9:50 a.m., said the coroner’s office.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
