Bandsaws Recalled by Grizzly Industrial Due to Shock Hazard
The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Bandsaws
Units: About 500
Importer: Grizzly Industrial, of Bellingham, Wash.
Hazard: Some of the recalled bandsaws do not have a grounding wire installed, which poses an electric shock hazard to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: The recall involves the G0640X 17-inch metal/wood bandsaw with an inverter motor. The products model number (G0640X) is printed on the front of the machine.
Sold at: Grizzlys showrooms, catalog and Web site, and Amazon.com from February 2008 through July 2009 for about $1,600.
Manufactured in: Taiwan
Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled bandsaws immediately until the repair kit is installed. The firm is sending repair kits directly to consumers.
