Bike rider rear-ended by SUV, killed
CORONA A 55-year-old Costa Mesa man was killed Monday after being hit by a SUV while he was riding a bicycle, authorities said.
Allen Earl Miller was riding north on Temescal Canyon Road, south of Indian Truck Trail, at about 2:40 p.m. when a 2003 Ford SUV approached from behind, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The SUV was being driven by Scott Reis, a 42-year-old man from Corona.
Reis drifted off the road for an unknown reason and hit Miller, according to the CHP.
Miller died at the scene.
No one was arrested or cited. CHP officials are investigating the crash.
