Car veers across lanes, causing multi-vehicle crash
The carpool lane of the northbound 57 freeway at Chapman Avenue was closed due to a multi-vehicle accident, according to the California Highway Patrol said.
The accident was reported at 7:49 a.m., causing traffic delays during the morning commute, said CHP Officer Denise Quesada.
A woman driving her black Toyota RAV4 in the far right lane slammed on her brakes when traffic slowed, but her car veered to the left across all lanes striking a white Nissan Altima that was traveling in the No. 1 lane, CHP Officer P. Gomez said.
The Altima ended up in the carpool lane against the wall. The RAV4 drove back across all lanes and came to a stop on the right shoulder, Gomez said.
The driver of the RAV4 suffered minor injuries to her leg.
The carpool lane has been reopened.
