Crash severs car, fatally ejects teen

Authorities have released the name of a 16-year-old Grand Terrace boy who was killed yesterday after a traffic wreck sheared open the car in which he was riding and pitched him onto a Yucaipa roadway.

Arion Seay was a passenger in a Ford Focus that was traveling north on Oak Glen Road when it crossed into on-coming traffic at 2:34 p.m. Monday and collided with a southbound Toyota Forerunner at Avenue E.

“The impact split the Ford Focus in half, ejecting Arion,” San Bernardino County coroner’s officials say in a written statement.

The boy died at 6:26 p.m. Monday at Loma Linda University Medical Center.

The Focus was driven by 27-year-old Dion Davis, of Yucapia, whom sheriff’s officials say was traveling at an “extreme high rate of speed.”

“The violent collision caused Davis’s vehicle to be ripped in half,” according to the sheriff’s statement. “It is believed Davis may have been driving while under the influence of alcohol.”

Uninjured was the driver of the Forerunner, 32-year-old Steve Parr of Yucaipa.
