Driver flees scene following injury accident
Police are investigating a two-vehicle accident in which one driver was injured and the other fled the scene.
The accident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Bear Street and Segestrom Avenue, said Santa Ana police Cmdr. Jeff Owens.
The initial investigation revealed a silver Dodge minivan traveling northbound on Bear at Segerstrom collided with a white Oldsmobile that was traveling eastbound on Segestrom, Owens said.
The minivan rolled on its ride, trapping the 59-year-old driver and his 17-year-old passenger inside, Owens said. The driver of the Oldsmobile fled on foot.
Santa Ana firefighters and paramedics rescued the occupants, Owens said.
The 59-year-old driver complained of pain and was taken to a hospital. The teenager was uninjured, Owens said.
It is unknown at this time which driver was at fault in the collision, Owens said.
The accident prompted the closure of the intersections of Bear and Segerstrom and Raitt Street and Alton Avenue.
The investigation is ongoing.
