Driver with Adenhart had some alcohol in her blood
Toxicology tests have detected alcohol in the blood of the driver who was with Los Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart and two Mira Costa High School graduates before a deadly collision in April.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department says Courtney Stewart, 20, of Diamond Bar had consumed alcohol shortly before the crash but says it does not know how much. Stewart, along with Adenhart and Mira Costa graduate Henry Pearson, 25, died when their car was broadsided April 9 in Fullerton by a minivan allegedly driven by Andrew Gallo. Jon Wilhite, of Manhattan Beach, was injured and is undergoing intensive outpatient physical therapy.
Police have said Gallo’s blood-alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit at the time of the crash. He has been charged with three counts of murder.
Sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino says he did not immediately have access to the toxicology report.
