Driving instructor gets jail for lewd conduct
SANTA ANA A South County driving instructor was sentenced to 22 weekends in jail after pleading guilty Tuesday to one count of misdemeanor lewd conduct, prosecutors said.
Golamreza Namdara, 55, of Foothill Ranch also was sentenced to three years informal probation, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s office.
In July 2009, Namdara made comments about the appearance of two teenage girls while giving them driving lessons in Laguna Hills, according to Deputy District Attorney Caroline Smith.
He also asked them out on dates, and encouraged one to drive to his home, authorities said.
Namdara was charged in February with two misdemeanor counts of child annoyance for making inappropriate comments to two girls, prosecutors said.
On Tuesday, those charges were dropped in exchange for his guilty plea to lewd conduct.
“It was a negotiated disposition,” Smith said. “He never touched the girls or exposed himself to them.”
Orange County Superior Court Judge Craig E. Robison sentenced Namdara, who will serve a total of 45 days in custody, Smith said. He will not have to register as a sex offender, she added.
