Ford recalling 15,000 trucks, SUVs over fire risk
Ford is recalling 14,737 of its new trucks and SUVs due to an electrical issue that can cause a fire, according to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The recall affects certain 2011 models of:
Ford F-150
Ford F-250
Ford F-350
Ford F-450
Ford F550
Ford Edge
Lincoln MKX
According to the filing with the federal safety agency, During a six-day production period, the supplier of the body control module manufactured modules that may have the potential for an internal short.
If such a short occurs, NHTSA said, an overheating condition may occur which can result in an unattended vehicle fire.
To remedy the issue, dealers will for free install a new module. Ford will be sending official recall notices to owners beginning on or before Jan. 10. If you have further questions or concerns, you can contact Ford at 866-436-7332.
