High-speed rollover kills driver, son
A speeding car overturned and slammed into a tree and a parked vehicle last evening along a residential street in Redlands, killing the 51-year-old driver and his 30-year-old son, according to Redlands police and San Bernardino County coroner’s officials.
Dead at the scene of the 6:55 p.m. wreck Wednesday along the 500 block of East Pioneer Avenue were Mario Armando Munoz Sr. and Mario A. Munoz, both of Redlands. The elder man was driving the 2000 Kia Sephia, coroner’s investigators said in a written statement.
“Police traffic investigators say the car was traveling (west) at a high rate of speed … on Pioneer when the drive apparently lost control and crashed,” police spokesman Carl Baker said in a separate statement. “Pioneer Avenue was closed until shortly before 1:30 a.m. Thursday. The accident is still under investigation.”
