Jet With Possible Mechanical Problems Lands Safely

A SkyWest jet with seven people aboard made a safe landing Thursday at Los Angeles International Airport after the pilot reported a possible mechanical problem, authorities said.

Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department said firefighters were on standby when the SkyWest flight 6455 landed safely about 7:45 a.m.

It was unclear what might have been wrong with the plane.
