ANAHEIM – A multi-vehicle crash injured three people and closed four lanes of the southbound 57 just south of Lincoln Avenue early Monday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash occurred at about 11:53 p.m. when it was reported that a black vehicle flipped and hit the guardrail on the right shoulder.
CHP officer Denise Quesada said the crash involved three to five vehicles.
Candice Brannigan, 27, from Riverside suffered major injuries and was taken UCI Medical Center in Orange, said Quesada. She was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence.
The passenger inside Brannigan’s Ford, Malachi Banales, 33, from Ontario, was also taken to UCI Medical Center with major injuries.
According to Quesada, Brannigan, driving a 2003 Ford in the No. 1 lane, veered to the left and struck a concrete center divider. She veered back to the right and collided with a 2001 Chevrolet in the No. 2 lane, Quesada said.
Jesus Rodriguez, 29, from La Puente, was inside the Chevy and suffered minor injuries. He was taken to Kaiser in Anaheim, Quesada said.
The No. 1, 2, 3, and car-pool lanes were blocked and reopened at 1:07 a.m.
