Man hit by vehicle in parking lot dies

An apparent argument between two groups of people in a parking lot has left one man dead after he was run down by a vehicle, Riverside police said in a news release.

A hit-and-run was reported to police at 8:50 p.m. Saturday in a parking lot in the 4800 block of Tyler Street. The man was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.

Witnesses told police two groups had been arguing. One group got into a vehicle before the man was hit and the vehicle then sped away.

Detectives from Riverside’s police homicide unit and investigators from the forensic evidence unit are investigating. The man’s identity has not been released pending notification of relatives.
