Man identified in fatal hit-and-run in North Hollywood

NORTH HOLLYWOOD – A 30-year-old man was killed in an early morning hit-and-run crash in North Hollywood, according to police.
Gabriel Pompa was killed near the intersection of Satsuma Avenue and Vanowen Street in North Hollywood, around 2:15 a.m., said Los Angeles police Sgt. Ben Alonso, a watch commander at North Hollywood Division.

“A motorist who was driving by saw the body and called 911,” Alonso said. “There were no witnesses. But there are cameras in the area, so we’re hoping to get something from them on the driver who fled the scene.”

Pompa was found laying near the curb and died by the time officers arrived at the scene.

“There was no marked crosswalk where the victim was hit,” Alonso said. “So we’re not sure what happened yet.”
