Off-duty sheriff’s deputy dies in motorcycle crash in Valencia
Funeral plans were pending today for an off-duty sheriff’s deputy who died in a motorcycle accident in Valencia.
Cameron Glover, 27, collided with a vehicle and crashed into the median on McBean Parkway near Granary Square about 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, according to deputies at the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley station, where he worked.
Deputies at the station issued a statement, saying they had “heavy hearts … as we have lost a great friend, partner, and a fellow community protector in Deputy Cameron Glover. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. He was survived by his wife, mother, father, and brother. We will continue to support them and lean on each other during this difficult time.”
According to The Associated Press, sheriff’s spokesman Steven Whitmore said the deputy had been at the department for four years and is survived by his wife who was seven months pregnant.
Glover was riding north when he collided with a car headed the same direction, according to a preliminary investigation by deputies with the traffic unit in Santa Clarita.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics took Glover to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where he was declared dead at 8:44 p.m.
Any possible witnesses not yet interviewed are urged to call deputies at 661-799-5112.
