Passenger killed in freeway crash into tree

A 62-year-old Fontana man died last night after the car in which he was riding ran off a freeway and hit a tree in Fontana, according to San Bernardino County coroner’s officials.

Enrique Yepez was a rear-seat passenger in a 1992 Honda Accord that was traveling west along Interstate 10 at 9:47 p.m. Sunday when the car veered to the right, left the roadway and crashed into the tree. The Honda rolled several times before landing upright.

Tepez was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he died at 11:10 p.m. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
