Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run in Anaheim
“Investigators say the victim was not in a crosswalk at the time of the incident.”
A man was killed today in an apparent hit-and-run accident in Anaheim, authorities said. Anaheim police officers responded to a call of “a man down” on BallRoad just east of Brookhurst Street just before 3 a.m. and found a pedestrian in the middle of the roadway, said police Sgt. Darrin Lee. The victim, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was declared dead at the scene, Lee said.
“We have not ruled out other forms of homicide, but based on where his body was laying and his belongings strewn across the roadway, he appears to have been hit by a vehicle,” Lee said. There was no crosswalk at the site of the accident, and the victim’s shoes were apparently knocked off his feet by the impact, said a witness at the scene.
Detectives are looking at possible surveillance video to get a grasp on the make and model of the vehicle involved.
Anyone with information on the man’s death was urged to call Anaheim police traffic investigators at (714) 765-1860.
