Pedestrian Killed While Crossing South L.A. Street

A woman was struck and killed by a car Wednesday while crossing a South Los Angeles street, police said.

The victim died at the scene of the accident, which occurred shortly after 6 a.m., at 79th Street and Western Avenue, Los Angeles police Officer Cleon Joseph said.

The vehicle was described only as a dark-colored sedan, Joseph said.
