Police looking for driver who ran over man in wheelchair
“A 62-year-old man in a wheelchair was seriously injured in the Halloween night accident, police said.”
Santa Ana police are asking for the public’s help in finding a hit-and-run driver who struck a 62-year-old man in a wheelchair, causing severe injuries.
The Santa Ana man was struck with a van around 6:30 p.m. Saturday at 500 E. Wellington Ave. near N. Lacy Street, said Santa Ana police Cmdr. Stephen Colon.
The man was in the street when he was struck by a large white van traveling west, police said. The driver failed to stop and was last seen heading toward Main Street, police said. The make and model of the van were not immediately known, but it likely sustained some front-end damage, Colon said.
The man suffered major injuries and was rushed to Western Medical Center where he remains in intensive care, Colon said.
