A second victim has died as a result of burns suffered yesterday during a house fire in Lake Elsinore, according to San Bernardino County coroner’s officials.
A 63-year-old man died at 8:24 p.m. Sunday at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton about 15 hours after he suffered critical burns during a 5:27 a.m. blaze along the 17400 block of Baker Street. His name has not been released
Due to the severity of his injuries, he had been transferred to the Colton hospital, which has a burn unit, from Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar.
The body of the other person, described as an adult, was found inside what was left of the three-bedroom home in a sparsely populated area northwest of Riverside Drive and Collier Avenue. That victim’s name also has been withheld, pending confirmation of their identity.
Two others, including a firefighter, were also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Riverside fire spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.
Fire escaping from a fireplace may have caused the early morning blaze, a Hendrickson said.
Five people were inside the house at the time of the fire, Hendrickson said. She did not know if they were related.
