Snowboarder crashes into trees, dies
An accidental fall apparently caused last night’s accident that killed a snowboarder at Mountain High Resort in Wrightwood, a resort spokesman says.
“He was on the trail, fell and slid into the trees,” said John McColly, vice president of marketing. “Pretty tragic, and a rare occurrence. I can’t remember the last time it happened here.”
The victim was a 24-year-old Fullerton man whose name is being withheld by San Bernardino County coroner’s officials who say they have not yet notified his relatives.
The accident happened at 6:06 p.m. Monday on a lighted trail called Headwall.
Night snowboarding sessions are held often throughout the winter and on every night during the holidays, McColly said.
