Two big-rigs collide, block I-15 in Baker
Traffic is backed up for a half-mile along Interstate 15 in Baker more than three hours after two big rigs collided and an SUV slammed into one of the trailers, according to California Highway Patrol officers.
“Everybody’s getting by (the crash scene) on the right shoulder,” CHP Officer Jaci Parent said at 7:15 a.m. of the 3:50 a.m. wreck along the freeway’s southbound lanes at the Valley Wells Rest Area, about halfway between Barstow and Las Vegas.
An Arizona motorist in a Nissan Frontera suffered minor injuries when his SUV crashed into one of the big rigs, Parent said.
A SigAlert traffic advisory was issued at 4:15 a.m. At 7 a.m., one of the trucks was still blocking the fast lane and part of the slow lane. There was no estimate on when the wreckage would be cleared.
