Unlicensed drivers ticketed as they try to drive away from court

“Garden Grove police cite drivers with suspended or revoked licenses as they leave court.”

Garden Grove police ticketed and impounded the vehicles of 11 people who tried to drive away from their court appearances Tuesday on a suspended or revoked driver’s license.

Undercover officers watched several repeat traffic offenders who were unlicensed, or had suspended licenses, make their appearances at West Justice Center Tuesday morning, and then followed them out of court to see if they would drive off illegally or get a ride, police said.

The 11 people who got in their vehicles and tried to drive away were stopped and cited by uniformed officers, and their vehicles were impounded, police said.

The operation was funded by a grant from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration through the California Office of Traffic Safety.
