Victim in fatal hit-and-run was former Azusa police officer
The motorcyclist who was killed by a hit-and-run driver Saturday morning has been identified as a retired Azusa Police Department officer.
Randall “Randy” Phillips, 55, died in the traffic collision around 6:30 a.m. as he rode his motorcycle on the westbound 60 Freeway near the northbound 71 Freeway connector.
CHP investigators have the suspect vehicle – a white Nissan Sentra – but have been unable to find the driver.
Phillips retired from the Azusa Police Department with the rank of corporal in 2004, according to information from the department.
He is survived by a wife and daughter.
