1 dead, juvenile wounded in shooting at La Habra park
One man was killed and a juvenile was wounded Thursday, July 5, in a shooting at a park in La Habra.
La Habra police responded to a report of shots fired near El Centro Lions Park about 2:50 p.m., a news release said. They found the victims, including the man in his 30s, in a grey sedan a few blocks away, Sgt. Jose Rocha said.
The man was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Witnesses led detectives to the park at 320 E. Erna Ave., where they found an unspecified crime scene, Rocha said. A video showed numbered evidence markers on the sidewalk near the park and yellow crime scene tape draped over the sedan and in a picnic area in the park.
The shooting may have been gang-related, Rocha said. No arrests had been made as of about 5 p.m.
