Car bursts into flames on 5 Freeway in Irvine; no one hurt
A car fire slowed traffic briefly on the southbound 5 Freeway on Sunday morning in Irvine, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The car burst into flames and was engulfed by the blaze after crashing on the freeway just north of Lake Forest Drive at around 10 a.m., according to a CHP log of the incident.
Firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority responded to the crash and quickly doused the blaze.
Only one car was involved, and no one was injured in the incident. It was unclear how many people were in the car at the time of the crash.
