1 person killed in CHP pursuit ending in Orange; 2nd chase in Santa Ana ends with injuries
One person died Saturday when a vehicle pursued by California Highway Patrol officers left a road in Orange and burst into flames, authorities said.
The pursuit began about 7:25 p.m. at the CHP office at 2031 East Santa Clara Ave. in Santa Ana, Orange police Lt. Mike Monjaraz said.

The pursuit ended when the vehicle went off Orange Olive Road north of Riverdale Avenue near a railroad bridge and caught fire, he said.
Riverdale Ave is closed at Gayle and at Beechwood. NB Orange Olive is also closed at Santa Ana Canyon. Please avoid the area in response to a police investigation. There are no outstanding suspects.

One person was found dead inside the vehicle, which appeared to be a van, Monjaraz said.
Separately, a brief pursuit of a reported stolen vehicle in Santa Ana on Saturday night ended when the vehicle crashed and rolled over, police said.
The chase began just after 8:30 p.m. near 17th and Ross streets, moving briefly into Orange, said Santa Ana police Sgt. Rosa Ponce de Leon.
“The pursuit lasted less than five minutes and terminated when the driver was involved in a rollover collision in the area of 17th and Main (Street),” she said.

Two people in the vehicle were treated by paramedics for minor injures, then taken into custody, Ponce de Leon said.
