Detectives sent to suspicious fire in the Whittier area; one person treated for smoke inhalation
WHITTIER — Firefighters treated one person for smoke inhalation following a smoky and suspicious fire in a Whittier-area home on Saturday, authorities said.
Firefighters were called at about 5:45 p.m. to 9821 Hawkstone Ave., the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
The first arriving engine reported heavy smoke and fire showing from the garage of a two-story home, LACo Fire said.
The fire was reported out about 5:50 p.m. and paramedics were tending to one smoke inhalation patient, officials said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Norwalk station said firefighters believed the fire was suspicious and requested that arson detectives investigate it.
