Murrieta driver, 25, dies in Laguna Beach crash; other driver arrested on suspicion of DUI
A man from Murrieta was killed in a traffic collision involving a suspected drunken driver on Coast Highway in Laguna Beach on Saturday night, July 14, Laguna Beach police and coroner officials reported.
The Orange County Coroner’s Office on Sunday identified the victim as Francisco Rojas, 25. Police initially said the victim was 27.
The other driver, whose name was not released, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.
The crash happened at just before 9 p.m. near Aliso Beach Park, according to police, who referred to the area as the “Aliso dip,” where the highway makes a descent.
Additional information was not immediately available on Sunday.
UPDATE: The Laguna Beach Police Department is sad to announce that the critically injured driver involved in the traffic collision tonight has succumbed to his injuries and has deceased. He was a 27 year old male from Murrieta. More details to follow. @LagunaBeachPD
