See what the first ladies wore in new Nixon Library exhibit
See the dresses first ladies have worn during memorable times in the American presidency.
The Nixon Presidential Library & Museum is opening on Wednesday, Aug. 1, a special exhibit on the fashion of presidents’ wives, include the first dress of Melania Trump to be displayed outside of the Smithsonian, organizers said.
Trump wore the silver Dolce & Gabbana gown that will be displayed to the G7 Summit in Italy.
Pat Nixon’s well-known red coat worn during the president’s historic trip to China will also be part of the exhibit, along with several more originals and replicas from other first ladies.
“Why They Wore It: The Politics and Pop Culture of First Ladies’ Fashion” will be on display through Sept. 12.
Weekly lectures, including some of the designers, will be hosted; up first is historian Carl Anthony, who authored a book by the same name as the exhibit, on Aug. 1.
