SANTA ANA — A train struck and killed a pedestrian in Santa Ana, authorities said Tuesday.
The crash was reported at 11:53 p.m. Monday, Santa Ana Police Sgt. F. Gutierrez said.
The pedestrian was struck by a freight train at 17th Street and Lincoln Avenue, a news videographer reported from the scene. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, Gutierrez said.
The pedestrian appeared to be a male, the news videographer said. It was not known whether the investigation will affect the morning commute when Metrolink trains use the same tracks.
