2 deputies shot in East Los Angeles; 1 suspect dead
A suspect was shot dead and two deputies were wounded during a shooting Wednesday night at a park in East Los Angeles.
Both deputies were hospitalized and were stable, a Sheriff’s Department’s spokeswoman said in a tweet at about 8 p.m.
The shooting occurred a little after 6:35 p.m. at Ruben F. Salazar Park, 3864 Whittier Blvd., according to a deputy at the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Other deputies had taken the injured deputies to County/USC Medical Center, TV station KTLA reported.
Also, a helicopter was at the scene searching for a possible outstanding suspect, according to broadcast reports.
The shooting scene is near the intersection of Whittier Boulevard and South Indiana Street in the triangle formed by the intersection of the 5, 60 and 710 freeways. Whittier Boulevard was closed from Indiana Street to Rowan Avenue. Indiana Street was closed from Percy Street to the 5 Freeway. There was no indication how long they would be closed.

It was unclear how many suspects were in the vehicle and how many had been arrested.
