Santa Ana man indicted on suspicion of trafficking meth, heroin and fentanyl
A federal grand jury indicted a Santa Ana man on Wednesday, Sept. 26 on charges of drug trafficking and unlawful possession of a firearm after police found a handgun and large quantities of drugs in his apartment in July.
Huntington Beach police found a .45-caliber pistol, 2,722 grams of methamphetamine, 1,992 grams of heroin and 891 grams of fentanyl in the apartment of Guillermo Ernesto Sanchez Hermosillo, 41, on July 31, federal prosecutors said in a news release.
He was being held in Orange County on state charges, and could face as many as 45 years in prison if found guilty in the five-count indictment issued on Wednesday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles said in the release.
The release said Hermosillo had been on probation after he was convicted of domestic violence in March, making it illegal for him to have a gun. The July raid of his apartment was conducted as a probation compliance check by Huntington Beach police with the aid of an agent from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
A 3-week-old infant and two other minors were in the apartment along with the cache of drugs at the time of the search, according to the federal prosecutors’ statement.
