Man shot dead in Fullerton, possible getaway truck sought

A 23-year-old was shot and killed in Fullerton on the morning of Sunday, Oct. 7.

Police were called to a shooting reported near the 400 block of West Avenue at about 9:15 a.m., according to Fullerton Police Lt. M. Hines. He said officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound and administered first aid. The victim was transported by paramedics, but was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Hines said witnesses saw a red pickup truck with a camper shell heading westbound on West Avenue, away from the scene of the shooting. Authorities were not immediately able to release a description of a suspect or say how many people might have been involved.

It is unclear whether gangs played a role in the incident.
