Stolen-car suspect shot, killed by Huntington Beach police following chase
A man in a suspected stolen car was shot and killed by Huntington Beach police Thursday, Oct. 11, and a woman taken into custody after a pursuit.
At about 12:30 a.m. the officers found the vehicle in the city and began pursuing it, said Officer Angela Bennett, a spokeswoman for the Huntington Beach Police Department. The chased ended at 12th Street and Palm Avenue, with the two suspects inside the car running away.
The woman was caught and taken into custody, while the man was shot by police, taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds and later pronounced dead.
No officer was injured. Details about what led to the shooting were not immediately available.
A gun was found at the scene of the shooting, Bennett said.
The incident is under investigation by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, per protocol of officer-involved shootings in Huntington Beach.
