by in News

Police sought a man suspected of robbing two doughnut shops at gunpoint in Anaheim within minutes of each other on the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 16.

A man entered the Winchell’s Donuts at 901 S. Euclid St. at about 3:56 a.m., pulled out a silver handgun, demanded money and then fled with the cash register drawer, according to a news release from the Anaheim Police Department. Authorities believe the same person was behind a similar robbery that happened 20 minutes later at the Vandy’s Donuts at 1007 N. Euclid St.

Authorities described the robber as a man in his 40s or 50s of an average build with a thin black goatee who was last seen wearing black pants, a black hoodie, white Nike shoes and an orange construction vest, according to the release. It said he may have fled the scene of the robberies in a dark, possibly green 2000 to 2003 Mercedes-Benz ML350 with paper plates.

Detectives suspect the incident may be related to a robbery in Los Angeles County. Anyone that might lead investigators to an arrest was urged to leave a tip with Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS or www.occrimestoppers.org.
