Overnight closure of southbound 405 freeway postponed

by in News

Work planned on the southbound 405 freeway overnight tonight, Oct. 17, and Thursday, Oct. 18, has been postponed, meaning drivers won’t face a detour.

The Orange County Transportation Authority doesn’t have a new schedule yet for when the needed closure of the southbound lanes will take place.

The work will remove the structure that holds signs spanning the southbound lanes. For safety, the freeway was going to be closed between Seal Beach Boulevard and the connector to the eastbound 22 freeway for those driving south and for those using the northbound HOV lane.

The work is part of a $1.9 billion project to widen the 405 and make improvements.
