Woolsey fire forces partial evacuation of LA’s West Hills

The Woolsey fire moved into the West Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles Friday night and some evacuations have been put into place.

All homes in West Hills, west of Valley Circle, from Roscoe Boulevard to Vanowen Street are under mandatory evacuation orders, according to the LA City Fire Department. The alert went out at 6:45 p.m. from the department.

Brandon Silverman, spokesman for the LA City Fire Department, said between 40 and 50 single-family houses were evacuated from West Hills.

The blaze that has charred thousands of acres in Los Angeles and Ventura counties and has led to the evacuations of cities, including Malibu, moved into the city of LA Friday night, Nov. 9, according to Daniel Bertucelli, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“City fire and the Los Angeles Police Department are in the area assessing,” Bertucelli said.

Those evacuating can relocate to Red Cross evacuation centers at Taft Charter, Palisades Charter and Canoga Park Senior High School.
