Forget Black Friday, #ClimateFriday brings dire warnings on the state of the environment
White hot deals on Playstation 4 systems, flat screen televisions and robot vacuums were not the only surprise to be found this Black Friday.
Friday, Nov. 23 also marked a different kind of sticker shock for the United States. The National Climate Assessment released a new federal report that paints a forecast that many will see as worrisome.

Here’s more coverage. Climate change is already hurting indigenous ppl, poor ppl, coastal ppl. We can expect the effects to worsen in next few decades. The report emphasizes need for adaptation since many climate effects are already baked in #ClimateFriday https://t.co/3bCcZFQvfm

The trump admin released this today to minimize exposure. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen.
“$141 billion from heat-related deaths, $118 billion from sea level rise and $32 billion from infrastructure damage by the end of the century.”#ClimateFriday #trump https://t.co/YMEvLrhW3X

According to the report, the last few years have “smashed records for damaging weather in the U.S., costing nearly $400 billion since 2015.”
The report also charges that extreme weather events “have already become more frequent, intense, widespread or of long duration.”
Do you compost?
Do you recycle?
Do you have a conservation versus consumption mindset?Don’t get overwhelmed by the global.
Start at home.
Then work outward. #ClimateFriday https://t.co/kHuSsX93rT— Rhonda Eiffe (@RhondaEiffe) November 23, 2018
Climate change is expected to increase heat-related deaths, make allergies more severe, and expose more people to Lyme, Zika and other insect-borne diseases. Children, older adults, low income communities and people of color are more likely to suffer. https://t.co/519b5dNjrR

These perils aren’t hypothetical, they’re happening now. Experts agree that climate change contributed to the severity of hurricanes like Maria, Florence and Michael and blazes like the Carr and Camp fires. https://t.co/zWss0sqdk8 by @angelafritz and @JoelAchenbach

The Associated Press found that the report also frequently contradicts President Donald Trump:
“Citing numerous studies, the report says more than 90 percent of the current warming is caused by humans. Without greenhouse gases, natural forces — such as changes in energy from the sun — would be slightly cooling Earth.”
Brutal and Extended Cold Blast could shatter ALL RECORDS – Whatever happened to Global Warming?

Oh, Biff……
Can someone please explain it to the president? https://t.co/7NuZ9Kai2a

People are going to die if we don’t start addressing climate change ASAP.
It’s not enough to think it’s “important.” We must make it urgent.
That’s why we need a Select Committee on a Green New Deal, & why fossil fuel-funded officials shouldn’t be writing climate change policy. https://t.co/bn6NloGlaY

The Trump administration tried to bury a new report about the devastating consequences of climate change.
Why? Because Trump’s actions are actively making it worse.
Our task is clear. We must immediately and dramatically reduce carbon pollution emissions. https://t.co/4dhk4qUdzn
