Moore, Rainey re-elected to Laguna Woods City Council

Laguna Woods Mayor Carol Moore and Councilman Joe Rainey have been re-elected to the City Council, according to official results released this week by the Orange County Registrar of Voters.

Moore was re-elected to her seat by a substantial margin, capturing 35.3 percent of the vote. Only 62 votes separated Rainey and Troutman, but Rainey held onto his seat with 32.6 percent of the vote to Troutman’s 32.2 percent.

Moore was elected to the council in 2014 and served as mayor in 2018. Rainey was appointed to the council in 2017.

The two incumbents will take the oath of office during the regular City Council meeting at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 19. At that time, the council will hold its annual reorganization, during which the five council members will elect a new mayor and mayor pro tem.
