Woman pleads guilty to manslaughter, gets 6 years in prison for 2016 Anaheim park killing
SANTA ANA — A 25-year-old woman pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter Friday and was immediately sentenced to six years in prison for the fatal stabbing of a fellow transient in Edison Park in Anaheim.
As part of the plea deal, a charge of murder against Jessica Ventura was dismissed along with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon.
Ventura, who was arrested Nov. 17, 2016 and has been in custody since then, fatally stabbed 21-year-old transient Lauren Duffy about 9 p.m., Nov. 12, 2016, in the park in the 1500 block of Romneya Drive.
After her arrest, police said the stabbing stemmed from a personal dispute between Ventura and Duffy.
