Pedestrian dies in Fountain Valley after motorist runs red light

A driver ran a red light, striking and fatally injuring a pedestrian in Fountain Valley on Sunday, Dec. 30, police said Wednesday.

The motorist had driven into the intersection of Warner Avenue and Los Jardines West without the right of way, swerved in an attempt to avoid another vehicle, then traveled onto a curb, according to a news release from the Fountain Valley Police Department.

It said the driver’s vehicle then collided with Tam Minh Vo, 57, of Salt Lake City, Utah. She was found deceased at the scene by officers responding to the crash at about 9:05 a.m.

Police do not suspect that either alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. It was not immediately clear if anyone was arrested, and the name of the driver was not immediately released.

An investigation is ongoing.
