Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Mammoth Lakes

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Monday morning in Whitmore Hot Springs, Calif., east of Mammoth Lakes, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 10:22 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 1.2 miles.
