Dead body found on 5 freeway in Anaheim
A police investigation into a body found on the 5 freeway shut down northbound lanes in Anaheim, backing traffic up for miles on Thursday, Jan. 24.
Motorists spotted a person’s body on the highway near Magnolia Avenue just before 6 p.m., according to a California Highway Patrol Dispatcher. She said no major collisions were reported in the area prior to their calls.
It wasn’t immediately clear who the deceased person was, how they died or how they got onto the freeway.
CHP officials issued a SigAlert that shut down all northbound lanes at 5:53 p.m., and vehicles were being redirected to the westbound 91 freeway, according to social media updates from Caltrans. Commuters were permitted to trickle up the slow lane of the freeway beginning at about 8:45 p.m., before all lanes were reopened just after 9 p.m., according to the dispatcher.
All lanes cleared on NB I-5 at Magnolia Avenue.
