The cameras were out and recording in several Inland Empire cities late Tuesday night when a cold-weather system brought snow flurries and hail to areas not accustomed to seeing such wintery weather.

People posted photos and videos of light snow and heavy hail, too, falling in Yucaipa, Beaumont, Calimesa the High Desert and Redlands.

Tuesday’s cold low-pressure system moved into the region from the north, according to National Weather Service. However, at the lower elevations, most of the snow was gone after a few hours.

The white, cold stuff covering many Redlands street Tuesday night wasn’t snow but hail.

Although there is no snow or hail forecast for the remainder of the week, chilly temperatures will remain.

Redlands, San Bernardino and Riverside were expected to see temperatures in the low- to mid-30s Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the low-50s.

Southern California beach communities will be warmer, with lows for Wednesday and Thursday expected to be in the mid-40s and highs in the mid- to upper-50s. Baldwin Park, San Fernando and Downey will feel lows in the upper-30s and highs in the mid- to high-50s heading into the weekend.

The Southland will dry out over the next few days, according to the National Weather Service, but there is a very slight chance of more wet weather by Saturday.
